Thoughts on 3D touch!

I have only previously owned an iPhone 5s which is the only iPhone I have ever owned. This means I have never used 3D touch until now. So now that I've been using the iPhone 7 for just under a week I thought I would talk about my thoughts on 3D touch.

3D touch is really a functionality thats between a gimmick and awesomeness. It has potential to be both depending on how Apple implements it further on. It can become a vital part of the phones experience or it could become something people eventually turn off.

I love the short cuts on the app icons, and I use the ones on Facebook messenger, settings, and flip board the most. Its useful to get to places quickly and its so fast thanks to the A10 fusion processor.

Pressing hard to see live photos go in action is cool, and live wall papers are kind of addicting. Apple didn't implement 3D touch too well in iOS 9 but in iOS 10 they did improve on it quite a bit. For example when you 3D touch an app icon that has a widget it will also show the widget alongside the shortcuts.

You can also use 3D touch in safari, to peak and pop into websites but unless you have a good wifi connection and websites load fast, you might as well go into the website and then push back.

So now for the negatives. 3D touch is very useful in places but it needs more to shine. First of all the fact that you can't customise the shortcuts is a painful one and I really wish Apple will address this in iOS 11 as it will actually be a game changer. There are more ways to implement 3D touch into the operating system but Apple just hasn't gotten around to it. After all, 3D touch is just over a year old, and like Apple music, it will definitely improve over time and I can't wait until Apple makes interesting drastic changes to 3D touch to make it really useful. So I like 3D touch but it needs some more shaping up which needs time, and I'm willing to watch Apple make this feature better and better over time.

What are your thoughts on 3D touch? Let me know in the comments below, but for now thanks for reading!
