Apple Music Review!

This review for the apple music will be targeted mainly towards the people who are wondering how apple music compares to Spotify. I have not looked at google play music yet but I'm not even sure I will because first of all so far Spotify and apple music have been great, and I also think for me to see the true benefit of google play music I think I would need to have an android eco system around me which I don't. So here I will talk about my thoughts on Apple music and compare it to my experience on Spotify.

First of all the layout. I haven't used Apple music enough to fully understand the layout but so far its pretty easy. I really like the radio station on Apple music, quite a bit more than the ones of Spotify although Spotify is really good at this as well. I like to not fuss with the music I like and just push one button to start playing songs from a genre I like a lot. If you're wondering, I really like Alternative genre.

I know Apple made improvements with the layout of the interface in iOS 10 and so far I really like it. If I could say one thing, it would be the colour of the UI though. I listen to music before I go to sleep and because the UI is all white, its hard to see because it blasts at you in the dark. Spotify has a dark theme going on which is why at night its a lot more easy going on you. This should hopefully be addressed when they release dark mode in iOS.

Both Apple music and Spotify have excellent selection of music and I don't think I'll ever not find a song I want to listen to on Apple music. Spotify as far as I know doesn't have any sort of exclusivities, but for example if you're a die hard taylor swift fan then you don't really have a choice but Apple music as she is exclusive to them. Apple has the money to go exclusive, and so if you want some exclusive music Apple music is better.

So far, Spotify and Apple music is really similar. I mean, I go on there, pick my favourite singers, have a browse at their music, and select a few, put them in a playlist, and I shuffle it. Thats what I do and both services do it very nicely. Still, I have a winner out of both, and its Apple music for a great reason. In a word, integration. I realised after using the apple watch a little, that Spotify doesn't work on it. Spotify doesn't have an app on the Apple watch. Thats when it hit me, Apple music has the power of the Apple eco system, something nobody else has. One thing Spotify can't do which is pretty major for me is integration with the device and other devices connected to it. I can ask siri now to put some pop music on, and it will just play a song. Last time I got Some nights by F.U.N. Siri integration is huge with this. At the point Spotify doesn't support music from the Apple watch, I think my mind was made.
