What it's like to live with the Apple Watch!
So I have been using the apple watch for a couple of days in my daily life. I've found that the apple watch has a lot of potential and also realised how much software is vital for navigation on a screen so small. So if you are thinking of getting the apple watch, have a read as I will tell you what its like to own one.
Firstly, you will have to get used to people asking "Is that an Apple watch??". The apple watch, or any smartwatch, isn't really mainstream yet. Meaning not everybody has it, and when you have one, it kind of stands you out. Especially mine with the green sport band really stands out. The apple watch has a very distinctive design and doesn't look like a classical watch, but before you blow it away saying that watches are meant to have circular screens, have a good use of the apple watch. I now understand why Apple decided to go with a square watch face, because reading text, navigating the operating system, and everything is a lot more simpler, and intuitive than a round screen. Also, the apple watch looks good, and I have to give Apple credit for making a watch that looks good on both men and women.
The watch is very customisable, and I think it has the best way to take a band off and on in any watch. Of course as it is an apple product, the support for third party accessories is always top notch and if you can't afford the ridiculous price apple charges their other bands for, you can get similar bands from Amazon a tenth of their pricing.
So what does the watch actually feel like? Well it feels really good on the arm. For me the screen is just right and anything larger might actually be kind of annoying and too big. I wouldn't recommend the 38mm to anybody though because its really small.
One of the best things about the watch is the digital crown and Apple made a big fuss about this as well. The digital crown is essential to the Apple watch. The Apple watch actually has many ways to interact with despite the small size of. You can use the side button to open the dock or turn the watch off, you can spin the digital crown, push it as a button, and also the screen is pressure sensitive. Funny enough, its really easy to figure out how to use the watch though.
So the dock I just mentioned. The dock is one of the strong points and its a third of the reason why WatchOS 3 is so great. If you keep apps in the dock, they are constantly loaded, and they are easily accessed by the side button. You can store up to 10 apps in the dock, but that may cause some battery issues.
So next the battery. Its only been a few days since I got the watch so I use it a lot and that may be why I usually end the day with around 15% or so left, but once the novelty warns off I think I will typically have around 30% at the end of the day or more. The battery life is pretty good, and if you don't use the watch to check CNN, BBC, Facebook messenger and Instagram all the time then it will last you the whole day no problem. It charges relatively quickly as well.
All in all, the apple watch is very unique, and no piece of technology will be more personal than what you wrap onto your wrist. So if you're looking for some little gadget that can make your life a little more interesting, then try the apple watch out.
