Here's why WatchOS 3 is amazing!
The apple watch has been released for some time now. It was first released in April 24th in 2015. When it came out WatchOS 1 was taken quite well, but it still had software inconsistencies and such. Now that WatchOS 2 and WatchOS 3 is out, we can really see how much Apple has matured with its smartwatch operating system. Many tech reviewers have said that they stopped using the apple watch simply because they didn't really need it. That was until they got their hands on watchOS 3. WatchOS 3, in my opinion takes half the glory of the new Apple watches that got introduced this year, and heres why.
Speed:
The new WatchOS 3 does improve speed of the watch. One of the main complaints received for the first apple watch was that it took long to load apps if they were not native. They would need to load up the apps using the iPhone. So WatchOS 3 completely revolutionises this. There is so much that software can do if the hardware isn't fast enough and that is the case for the first apple watch at least. In an interview Senior vice president of apple Craig Fedehriki said that their initial goal for the apple watch was to make it last at least a day no matter what. With a small battery, optimisation is key. Craig said they completely overshot this achievement. Most reviewers say that the apple watch can last you 2 days. They usually end the day at around 50% and the only reason why they charge it is because, well all you need to do is put it on a wireless puck charger. With WatchOS 3, Craig said they used the lot of free Ram they had left and battery life they aren't concerned about anymore and they created dock. To access the dock you push the side button that isn't the digital crown and it sill show cards of apps that you always have loaded. You can add up to 10 apps into the dock and the apps are always loading and updating in the background you don't need to worry about speed.
Simpler interface:
The Apple watch with watchOS 3 is now really like a miniature iPhone on your wrist. Swipe down for notifications, swipe from the bottom for the control centre. The glances is gone now because the point of it is kind of gone by the dock now.
Some additional cool features:
The apple watch has customisable watch faces. Now I do wish apple will let in third party watch faces but the ones they have now are really versatile. Also complications are really cool, something android wear doesn't have yet. The best part is switching through the watch faces. Depending on what band you have or what occasion you're going to, you can now change the watch face by sampling swiping left or right on the screen.
WatchOS 3 makes the whole watch feel different. More intuitive, more matured as an operating system. Overall, Apple is growing quickly with their watchOS and it will be very interesting to see what more they can do next year. Let me know your thoughts on watchOS 3 down below, but for now thanks for reading!
