What exactly are tablets trying to do now??

2015 we saw all kinds of tablets. Some interesting products have also come out this year. Some laptops are trying to be tablets, and some tablets are trying to be a laptop. The line between laptops and tablets have been getting extremely vague so I'm here to tell you the differences between the 3 types of tablets out there, and give a few examples for them all.

The first kind of tablets is the original kind of tablet. These tablets are simply for entertainment use but you can also many other tasks on them as well. It may be best to think of these tablets as a big phone. 2 tablets come to my mind when I think of this sort of tablet, which are the iPad pro 9.7 inch and the Google pixel C. Both of these tablets are excellent for watching videos, web browsing, and daily entertainment tasks. Especially the iPad pro 9.7 inch with its 4 side speakers make it a killer Netflix machine.

The second kind of tablets is the tablets that are trying to become laptops (And kind of failing in 2 different ways). The reality is, it's either going to be one or the other. 2 tablets that come to mind are the Microsoft surface pro 4 and the iPad pro 12.9 inch. First the Surface pro 4 is a laptop. Most of the task done on it require the track pad that Microsoft sells separately and once you add that on then it's really a laptop with a detachable keyboard and nothing else. Sure it can have a strong processor but that only reduces battery life, and overall it's expensive if you spec it out to the point I would suggest people to just get a laptop. That being said the Surface Pro is a great tablet and if you are heavily into windows then I would suggest to use this. Now, the iPad pro. The iPad pro is on the complete opposite spectrum. First of all the iPad pro is a tablet, and Apple is advertising it as a laptop replacing device. Many reviewers have been saying that it can not replace their laptop but that's because they're you tubers and the iPad pro may be strong enough to process 4k footage but the app support hasn't caught up with it yet. Basically because it runs iOS, there isn't enough of the "pro" features. However if you only use Word or Pages, email, and those light weight jobs that can be done easily and well on iOS I think many people will enjoy using the iPad pro as their daily driver. I would still recommend a laptop though unless you really need the portability, but the MacBook 12 inch Retina kind of takes its place. Both the iPad pro and surface pro 4 are great tablets, but you shouldn't expect the surface pro to be a great tablet replacement and you shouldn't expect the iPad pro to replace your laptop.

The third kind is the one I dislike the most and this the Laptops that are trying to be tablets. One type of this kind of laptop is the Lenovo Yoga book. The other is the Microsoft Surface Book. Firstly the Lenovo Yoga book. The Yoga book is foldable, as in you can fold the keyboard back so that you can use it as a tablet. I have one thing to say to Lenovo regarding this. If you're trying to make a tablet out of a laptop you make the keyboard detachable. So I guess this leads us to the surface book. The surface has a detachable screen, but again, this laptop/tablet has the same problems as the surface pro 4 did which is that if you don't have the keyboard and trackpad on it's really hard to use it. That being said it can be quite useful to have this feature if you are on the go. You will just need to keep in mind that the battery in the screen isn't very big and it won't last very long.

So here are the 3 types of tablets that are in the wild right now. My favourite still stands with the tablets that are still trying to be excellent tablets. Let me know what you think in the comments down below! Thanks for reading!
