The loss of the headphone jack

The end of the era for the headphone jack is nearing by very quickly. Every major move in the technology industries have been made by the biggest companies and Apple is definitely one of them. Who took away the floppy disk drive? Apple.

Who took away the disc readers from iMacs and MacBooks? Apple.

Sure there might have been other companies that did it first but when Apple does it, everybody else does it. Like it or not they have a huge impact on the overall industry. This time, its the headphone jack and its no different to other times.

Apple wasn't the first one to drop the headphone jack either. Oppo F1 and the moto z were the first to drop the headphone jack. Nobody really talked about them taking away the headphone jack? So its pretty obvious the amount of noise people are making over the loss of the headphone jack is simply because its Apple, and this could mean two things. One, they just hate Apple. Second, people know that this move by Apple will change the industry, and boy oh boy it will.

I would presume at least 50% of 2017 flagships will not have a headphone jack. Rumours have it that samsungs galaxy s8 will not have it, and I'm sure plenty will follow. Only companies I can think of that will leave it are companies like LG. So is this shift bad? Well it really depends.

If you're the type of person that uses the headphones or earphones that come with the phone, then sure you're sweet (Apparently the google pixel won't come with headphones though). If you're the type of person that uses wireless earphones or headphones anyway, then you too, are sweet. Really, the only people affected by this are people that have bought headphones or earphones from other companies, like beats. This can cause trouble but Apples way of solving this was to add a 3.5mm headphone jack to lightning adapter. I personally don't want to carry a dongle everywhere I go but if you're fine with that then I guess you will be alright.

But thats when I realised there's an even bigger problem. I own the 12 inch retina MacBook 2015 edition, and it has a headphone jack. I also have an iPad 4, and I have an iPhone 7 on the way. Oh oh.

The problem I'm going to face is, how am i going to listen stuff on my MacBook. Should I just use the standard 3.5mm headphone jack apple earphones like now and use the dongle when i need it for my iPhone 7? Should I buy the apple air pods? No I don't have enough money I'm only a student.

And here lies the biggest problem with the removal of the headphone jack. Obviously Apple wants us to move to a wireless audio era, but they still cost quite a bit, at least the good ones, and not everybody is ready for it. But I guess change is mandatory for moving to a new era and to be honest I know nobody will be fussed about the removal of the headphone jack in a year. So 2017 is the year of change, and in a few years we would've forgotten all about it.
