iPad 4: 4 years later review

I`m now going to review the first ever electronic product that I have ever bought in my life. 4 years ago I bought the iPad 4th generation, and I still use it to this day, in fact while I`m currently writing this article I`m actually watching a Casey Neistat video on it. So how well does this piece of technology apple introduced us in 2012 hold up in 2016.

Firstly, speed. This iPad was actually doing just fine when it was still on iOS 9, but ever since iOS 10, it`s been a little sluggish. If you have an iPad 4, and you haven't updated, then I wouldn't suggest it, but its not that bad, and its not enough of a speed downgrade for me to not use the iPad.

The screen is still very good with a resolution of 1536 x 2048. It still holds up to the current resolutions of the newest iPad pro 9.7 inch. I have no complaints with the screen and this is probably because of my careful usage of the iPad but the screen barely has any scratches.

On thing I'm not a fan of this iPad is the speakers. The single side/back facing speaker aren't loud enough and makes me really envy the 4 speakers on the newest iPads. It`s also very annoying that this iPad doesn't have touch ID. I know this sounds stupid because touch ID wasn't in any of apples product then but because I use an iPhone 5s, I really wish I had it on my iPad as well and always putting the password in is getting very old.

Battery life is an interesting topic. I think the battery life is alright, and I can literally use it for 6 hours straight watching videos before I have to get the charger out. I think thats better than expected from a 4 year old battery.

So after all this, if you are looking for a cheap iPad on eBay and wondering if the iPad 4 is good enough, I don`t think I can recommend it to you. It will most definitely not support iOS 11 and it probably won`t last 1 year after you purchase it. If you're in the market for a low cost iPad, skip the iPad 4 and search for an iPad air 1st generation.
